Also, the very corners, like where the length, width, and height meet, should that be balanced on its own corner and have 40 poured in it separately? Hope that makes sense. Like a triple V?
Thanks for answering both posts!
I gotcha lol … ehh… ive done tanks with and with out pouring up under the top. I think ur talking about the bottom tho and in this case id say no unless the other 2 sides at the bottom have been compromised or are in bad shape with white patches anywhere. U have that extra seal/rod inside on the bottom also so i think ur good already there.
I found four sheets of quarter inch clear plastic that I have no idea how I acquired. But I do like to acquire junk LOL. How do I tell if it is actually acrylic. It still had a blue plastic cover sheet over it. Clear as can be. It's actually a little shy of 1/4 inch though...and does extruded verse cast mean anything?
When the aquarium is running it goes through the wall about four inches so that you can see it from both sides. The opening at the top of the tank was cut so wide that it is right under the edge of the sheetrock which caused some mold and weeping into the sheetrock. I'm thinking of taking those "acrylic sheets" I found and putting it right over the top opening with 40 covering about 6 in of the top opening so water isn't splashing up into the wall. What do you think about that? The top has a little bow to it that was always there so I'll probably have to weigh the sheet down a little until it's dry.
Thanks!

Blue masked is usually extruded acrylic…brown paper masked is cast acrylic. There are some exceptions these days tho. In general extruded is weaker but theres not much difference with 1/4… sounds like 3/32” also. Its a bit thinner/cheaper than 1/4”.
For the top that sounds like a good idea… fully covered lids are a must in my opinion. Especially if ur splashing water onto drywall. U can probably use weld on #16 for the top as its not really structural. Should b perfect with the 3/32” also to bend right over the bowed top. Same thing tho. Apply the glue, then weight it down. The fumes from 16 are much better to deal with. Its a somewhat thick consistency similiar to the stronger pvc pipe glues.
Another tip when finding/buying scrap is acrylic is clear on the edges… ploycarb, lexan, vinly is grey …
