Acrylic starting to separate?

Yeah he’s the man on this topic among others lol.
No unfortunately I can not lower the level without drilling the overflow towers or trying to cut down my siphon tube. The Weld-on #4 should be here Thursday evening. My plan was to do a 90% water change, once I get to that point use the needle to inject solution into the seam, clamp it down, wait about an hour then start the refill. I’m hoping that, that will do the trick as I have absolutely no other option. I looked all over for a kiddie pool or equivalent today with no luck. And amazon is a Friday/Saturday delivery for a temporary pond situation.

Have you tried tractor supply or something similar for a stock tank? Even Walmart for a large rubber maid tub?

Not sure how I’d filter all of them. I have 4 rays all about 18”-19” in disc size not including the tails, 2 gar about 12”-13” long and a Datnoid about 18”. The tubs I’ve seen are only 100gal and only about 13-14 inches across at the bottom.

My last resort option is to grab some lumber a pond liner and build a huge indoor pond on the unfinished side of the basement.

I have serious OCD so I’m trying to not go this route lol because I’ll freak out with it just being slapped together.

Oh ya, for those sizes as much as you’d spend on stock tanks, you might as well just buy a new tank. What about an intex inflatable pool, those usually aren’t too pricey, and I think they have sizes 6-14’ or so ,and I believe for a filter, you could just put your media in the pool in media bags and use power heads for circulation, I think that would work short term until your tank is fixed. As far as heat I’m not sure though

Thats a beautiful sized tank regardless there-

Do you have a farm supply store? There are 300 gal round poly stock tubs that are 72” wide that I believe can fit through doorways with some adjustments for some door entrances if you are nervous about the liners being ripped up by the fish by accident

Okay, tank is level again. The separation has grown quite a bit, I’m wondering if putting this clamp on will hurt anything? I ordered some weld-on 4 with high gauge needles hoping to get in the seam.

Just saw this today… great move with the clamp! Very smart to buy urself some time. Ur plan sounds pretty good also to 90% w/c and give er 1 shot of #4 injection. Rootin for ya lol! It should work as intended and be pretty safe that way especially with the clamp to prevent it from pushing forward. Start the needle at the bottom of the separation and move up as needed. Ull b able to watch the white spot turn clear again as u inject. Ull b surprised how far it will fill from 1 spot even. If u go too quick up or try to redo it its too late, the outside will skin over and prevent glue from entering the void. Inject the glue with the clamp off, clamp it after u get it filled in… Good news also is the #4 cures pretty quickly. U should be able to fill it back up at least half way in a cple hrs. Then let er rip after 3-4 hrs. Cant hurt to leave the clamp on overnight either after u glue and fill back up.

Pretty concerning it spread that much in a few days tho. Thats a bit odd even under the circumstances. Run ur plan with #4… if it keeps spreading after that id go for a patch on the outside with a strip of acrylic. Can do the same thing over again during an xl w/c. Lets hope for the best tho on round one!

Damn… get that clamp back on maybe… after seeing this its def. Not ur fault in any way. Thats mfg. error for sure. Wrong kinda glue was used or the sheet wasn’t clean or prepped correctly. Ive never seen a seam let go like that in all my yrs on a factory built tank. Really hope she holds for another 24hrs or so until ur glue comes in. Kick in the teeth for sure man, real sorry to see this. Might not b a terrible idea to just drain er down to 12” or so, run ur heaters and bubblers and no filtration.
