Help. I just bought a 600 gallon acrylic tank that may be for sale soon. I have a line on a 2500 tank that is 20 feet long. Problem is it was cut in half right in the middle to move. Yes I have the space to set this up in my house.

The question: Can I remarry the two halves by reinforcing the joint on either side(inside and out)? I know it will produce a ugly seam but I can hide it with a faux column or something. The other option is two 1250 gallon tanks which can work too. Either way i will be posting one of the tanks for sale soon.

Any thoughts are welcome.

Put this in the DIY section. They will be able to get you through this. Some pictures would help as well.

Cut in half to remove it.....silly but it was built in place....custom.

New panels would be crazy expensive from what I heard a 4x8 sheet(not big enough) would be 900-1000 bucks.

Ok I will put in diy

Depending on what you like to stock just making it into 2x1250s could be better anyway. Two ecosystems, double the stocking possibilities, etc... If you're anything like me (like to keep things as geographically accurate as possible, but still like lots of fish), that'd let you keep more cool fish.

We all envy your ability to house the tanks either way, of course...

what are the details on the acrylic? thickness? height and depth of tank? how was it cut?

Mmmm, excellent questions.

I have not put my hands on it yet, but I have been told it is at least 1" acrylic, dimensions 20' longx4'x4'.

How was it cut, don't know but I doubt it was done nicely. I assume i will have to recut to get clean edges.
