So far i have spoken to 2 builders. Anyone have any suggestions on who they chose to build their tanks ?

Any suggestions on who to stay away from ?

Also if anyone has a tank from fishtanksdirect i would like to hear your opinions on their work.

Spoke to them today and their line of tanks is tsunami (anyone have one) seemed like a nice guy.

Thx dmd will check them out.

Bump on fishtanksdirect guys would like to hear from some owners.
jsodwi jsodwi i think you mentioned you spoke with them.

I read some old threads about FTD and people were saying that they are just brokers and dont build the tanks. But when i spoke to their rep he said they do build them but said it was a tsunami tank.

Gotten quotes from FTD , customaquariums.com, and midwest customs. To my surprise the glass tank came in way more expensive than the acrylics. Midwest came in the middle of the pack. Not looking to nickle amd dime this, looking for quality

I should mention that im leaning more towards midwest customs chris has been fantastic to deal with and ive learned in life cheapest doesnt always mean better. Just the shipping quote sucks

Tank will be 3/4 96x30x24aybe go a couple of inches higher

Yeah, when I got my tank from customaquariums.com the wider tanks started getting way more expensive. I really wish my tank were 30" instead of 24" but my tank was more cookie cutter and was ran as a 'special' price so it was fairly affordable. It is an awesome show tank for sure but not the easiest to work with. Your not nickel and diming this, its a huge purchase that you want to last so good research is vital before you spend your hard earned bucks.

Based on reputation I would use Midwest customs. This is not based on any figures just a long list of good reviews. I'm pretty sure pacu mom pacu mom has a tank from them.

FTD let me talk to the actual tank builder because the tank was so big theat I was looking for bye used to build tanks for Tenecor befor they went to s**t. I talked to him for a long time on multiple occasions about exactly what I wanted. I felt very confident that he could deliver. My Tenecor 750g even though it was toward the end of the company, I can't complain. Too much about and its 7 years old. I also talked to Midwest. I liked his quality but he kind of refused to give me exactly what I wanted. I talked to ATM their prices were a bit high band I talked to a local company by me who's price was they the roof and I refused to give me what I wanted and wouldn't warranty the tank if I built my own stand (which metalwork is my trade) and the stands he supplied were crap compared to ones I build

I have never heard any complaints about Midwest Custom Aquariums. Chris was really great to deal with. Our big tank was brokered through fishtanksdirect when they were located in Arizona. The tank was built in Florida by Suncoast. The tank looks good, but we still haven't filled it. Doviiman has an 800 gallon tank made by the same builder..you could pm him

Thanks for the input guys. I read some of pacu mom pacu mom comments as well as seen threads from J Jc1119 (great thread learned allot from it) thx to ragin_cajun ragin_cajun

I just sent truvu an email for a quote. Ive yet to see anyone have a complaint about midwestcustoms. More than likely i'll just deal with the high shipping cost seems to be real quality work and still comes in at a better price than the glass. Plus ive been harrassing him with questions and hes been great about it.

I really like the whole welded seems over the silicone glass... atleast from what ive read. So acrylic is gonna be the way i go
