For all us stingray owners using sand does it scratch your acrylic tank with the rays always moving it around? I want to use sand in my new tank but am concerned its going to scratch it all up

ive been wondering too.

i keep a bare bottom, and i still get scratches:nilly:

I have gravel in my acrylic and after a year have no scratches. I have a scrubbie pad for cleaning algae off of acrylic. I stopped using it and just use a sponge now. I have 3 rays that swim along the sides all day long.

also concerned a little too cause the bottom panel of acrylic is black and the scratches may be more visible cause of that bu it should def make the rays colors better

I have sand in my tank. No obvious scratches from the rays. Have to be really careful though when cleaning the acylic with a pad. I have made a few minor scratches when a grain of sand got underneath the pad. You could use black sand.

Black rays may look better..... Marbles look like crap on black. Just turn really really dark.

I'll let you know what happens when I dump a bunch of white sand in my 300 gallon growout....... Kinda curious myself as I have never had rays in acrylic.

just looking to make my black rays and flowers stand out more.. I don't keep any motoros anymore

I have sand in mind and not had a problem. Just use a pad for cleaning. My rays are up and down the sides all day long and no problem.

may i make a suggestion? Easyist may to avoid this problem is simple
Use glass not acrylic. problem solved.
