So my 530g acrylic tank is scheduled to be delivered. It’s 94in x 48in and will weigh 570lbs empty. Does anyone have recommendations on suction cups that can be used for moving it?

Also the tank needs to go in my garage for the month of June. Considering how hot it gets in NJ and I have no AC in there, will the acrylic get damaged?

Thanks!

I've used these.

I think acrylic will be fine in your garage. You can always fill it with water to help keep it cool. It would double as a leak test.

How are you getting it through the doors?

I have double front doors so very easy plus it’s going in the family room that isn’t too far from the front door.

We used the basic two cup auctions. We only had three so three guys used that. Those guys were in the back of the tank. The other three grabbed the bottom from the front. The last guy pushed from the front as we slid it onto the stand.

Make sure you inspect your tank and do not sign for it if there is a problem. Both times I have had tanks delivered, the truckers were in a big hurry to get away. A lot of bad things can happen from when the tank builder had it shipped and it gets to your house. It probably will be in a couple of pallets all wrapped up or crated up. Take the time to inspect the tank. It will be a real hassle if it is crated, but you had better inspect it. The trucker will probably be very impatient, but he won't leave until you sign for the tank.

We did not inspect our 300 gallon tank. We got it in the house where it sat for a few months. One of the pallets was damaged. When we finally unboxed the tank, there was a major crack in the floor of the tank by the corner of an overflow box. Apparently a forklift tine had come up through the pallet and cracked the tank. It was a really sick feeling to discover a crack in a brand new tank after the tank builder advised us to inspect the tank before accepting delivery.

We had to repair a brand new tank :( :( Fortunately, it was repairable. The builder sent us some Weldon and a piece of acrylic. My husband did a stellar repair job. In fact, it is the only "decoration" in the tank. ... A slab of acrylic would have looked very ugly.

I had one truck driver try to trick me into signing before inspection by telling me I could write "pending inspection" next to my signature.

Just setup one of those folding chairs for him and tell him to have a seat because it's going to be awhile.

I might actually pick up my next tank at the depot and inspect it there.

I remember your story :) I’ve also had that experience with furniture and luckily I was smart enough to check it.

I am positive that your trucker will be in a big hurry to get on down the road.....be forewarned.. but he can't leave until you sign the receipt.

Lol your tanks not going to get damage being inside a garage for a month in NJ. You bought a BRAND NEW custom made acrylic tank from a manufacturer. Don’t you trust the quality of their product just a tad bit? I’ve had low quality acrylic tank baking in the sun outside in California during drought season for months and I’ve yet seen any damage. Safe to say your tank will be perfectly fine chilling in a closed garage lol...
