Keep in mind that an uneven stand/floor will have more impact on an acrylic tank. There is no give in the seams, so they'll just POP. (Glass will too, but it's a bit more forgiving)

I would love to trade my 300g acrylic for a glass one.

You have uneven floors? Man, you should see MY floors. Its crazy. We had to shim up the stand with 2 x 4's and piece of cardboard to get it level...lol. It was bad. Right now the tank is perfectly level though. The 55gal in the bedroom that is glass though, you can see its uneven in the water. Higher on one end of the tank than the other. I did the same with two 27gal acyrlic tanks, and they leaked. Got them level, no leakage. Really weird. So yeah, glass is better for uneven, no doubt about that.

how do you shim a tank with water already in it? I think I may need to do this with my tank too.

Dude...I can't believe you just said that...lol. I did it BEFORE the tank was filled! LoL! We used a 3' level and a 1' level on the tank to see where it was level at. LoL! Just put the tank on the stand, put the levels on top of the tank, and boom. Simple as that. It can be annoying though...lemme warn ya...but it works!

Everything has already been said on this, but I have a couple of glass 270s, and an acrylic 525, and getting the acrylic into the fishroom was much much easier. I've never been afraid of being crushed by an acrylic tank. Once in place, I think glass is much easier to maintain.

Show off, why don't you just rub it in that you have huge tanks! LoL! Pitty your camera doesn't see much action! ;)

this has crossed my mind a number of times i want to go aryclic but some glass tanks are very reliable as well my goal next few months or year a 8ft 300-350 gallon

Seriously not trying to brag: the 270s were formerly in a local Chinese restaurant, and need a little work. The 525 I just found on craigslist and am in the process of getting set up. I've been too busy for much photography lately: no new pike pics...I'd be glad to post some of my others. :P ...and pictures will certainly be posted when I get the big tank up and running! The point is, the 270s are built out of 1" thick plate glass and they are just scary heavy compared to even a big acrylic!

No worries, I knew you were playing. ;) Our aquarists club has a meeting out of town on Saturday, and I have to get a 100-gallon tank set up over the weekend for some incoming Madagascan cichlids...but after I get those done, I'll see what I can do. I just looked at the last shots I took of the lents, and they definitely need to be updated.
