Acrylic vs. Glass

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Glasscages prices on 125g wide tanks, 72"x 24"x 17" in glass $260, in acrylic $300.

I would go with Acrylic if the tank is over 400 gals. I like the Glass though.. like others have said, it doesn't scratch as easily.

if you want a big tank with the clarity of acrylic. build it! plywood and acrylic tanks look great. theres no green tink to it (wish happens to glass tanks with alot of depth to them.

im buildin a tank (either 400 gal, or 1350 gal, not sure yet) outta acrylic and plywood.

yaa man i'm thinkin of going acrylic for my next tank if i can find a good deal. I found a 70g with sump and stand for 70 bucks but another guy swooped just before me!! Glass is jsut too damn heavy and i'm always worried about it bowing too much and the seams weakening over time.

Haha native, that's a big difference of choice you have to make

I say go for 1350g... it's never big enough :headbang2

BTW, do you have plans on the 1350g, how do you plan on building it? Will it be a pond or regular tank? I am planning a tank like this in a year or two in my basement...grabbing info :naughty:

Thanks for da input guyz!
