Besides scuffing up a tank, would the rhino pleco die or get sick if it got some acrylic, currently coming close to finishing an acrylic hide for when i get the rhino plec.

I doubt it would bother them.

That's awesome I'am not to worried about the tank, the acrylic is thicker than it needs to be, more worried about potentially sicking a future fish of mine.

It would just pass straight through them.

I agree.

I think you would have to worry more with large common pleco and large Panaques. Large commons and large Panaques have been known to eat wires and even break the seal of a tank by chewing on the silicone.

I have had my Large Panaques eat a floating log made from fiber glass I had in the tank for my turtle. Nothing happened to them. I was happy they were not affected in a negative way. That was also the last time i put any fake decor in with them.

My pleco is on the glass 24/7. I'll stick with glass tanks.

Ive never seen my L264s on glass but I'm not going to chance it with a showpiece acrylic tank but a used one is just fine.

I have gotten bit by em before and it really hurts they got teeth. I'm not sure if my L134s and panaque would as they do have tendency to go onto the glass and hang out when I'm doing one of my deep cleaning to get out of my way.

For used acrylic tanks I am planning on switching one glass tank out to acrylic tank anyhow. For a showpiece acrylic tanks I would not even think twice about it with my sultans even if they dont have history of hanging out.

My newly aquired Royal is never on the glass (acrylic). He is to busy hanging ot in the rocks and wood. I don't think he would try the walls since there is no algae there.
