active odd ball suggestions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I actually have a syndo decorus and some other common one. They are fun, but hide a lot.

All knifefish hide a lot...so those are pretty much ruled out; unless you keep the light off or dimmed. You could try some clown loaches, tinfoil barbs (even though they aren't oddballs), rope fish, redfin prochilodus, zig zag eels, banded leporinus, rainbow snakehead, a hujeta gar or any other small gars

Nice list of suggestions. I am in the US. I have had or have most of the fish you have listed. Looking for something else. Keep them coming.

cuban gar
tropical gar
tsn
lungfish
asian arowana
peacock bass
xl fire eel
payara
rainbow snakehead
rope fish
dolphin mormyrid
african arowana
sterlets
dragon knifefish
discus fish
mbu puffer ( maybe )
datnoid
severum
fly river turtle ( maybe )
other bichirs
baby whale
all of these fish could work if they are under 10 inches

a nice pair of super red severums and a datnoid or three certainly would look nice. Also, a male Carpintis texas cichlid is quite the sight. Synodontis would also be on my highly recommended list. If you plan on upgrading, a Red Tailed Giant Gourami and a Fly River Turtle (at least 300 gallon tank) would look quite spectacular.

maybe a crocodile fish, but they sometimes hide, they get around 6 inches. Most of the time they drift around playing dead and imitating drifting branches or anchor themselves in an area of high current

Whatever you do PLEASE stay away from an MBU, as it would suffer greatly in a 125G... if you want a puffer, i would suggest a fahaka... although it would most likely need the 125G all to itself...

thanks for all the ideas.

A 125 is only 18 incehs wide, not wide enough for a fahaka. I recently had to give mine away. By far the best fish I ever owned.

Think I am going to do a pair of mouth brooding severums and add some more polypterus. Still would like something unusual just don't know what.
