News flash...just as with your poll, nobody really cares how many members are active. take a look at the small fraction of members currently online now actually posting in this thread.

It's how I came up with my numbers that are quoted farther up.
Using some random ambiguous numbers to define "active" I came up with 5411 active members. For me, active is over 30 posts and the most recent post has to be within the last year.
If you just want to see how many members have over one post there are 26089 (of the supposed 87,xxx members).
If you're really hardcore and say active is 3000 or more posts with the most recent being in the last week there are 104 active members.
But again, if I search the Memberlist I get 75432 members, I don't know why there is such a difference between the Memberlist and what's stated on the front page.

2835 is the number of members i came up with. that would be those who have posted something this year (2011) and have more than 50 post
