ADA Amazonia vs. Eco Complete-shrimpies

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well the 40L is doing fine, but this is just for a small 10 gallon shrimp tank. I do like LEDs for the most part, but at the same time for only being 19, I like old fashioned lights lol.

I'm going to be checking the water parameters here tomorrow, now that I can FINALLY get to the Koi Pond shed (evil winter). I do think our main tank's pH has dropped quite a bit with the CO2 injection. The neons are not happy campers lately. My Amano finally molted today, so he's doing well and getting big, but the neons not so. I doubt it's the pH level thats bothering them, but who knows. Lost one yesterday, and the Comet, before being put in fish jail until spring (smaller tank), had eaten 6 neon tetras. The Rainbow Shark, Chinese Algae Eater and the GLOTetras, along with a few of the Danios are doing alright, but the neons are practically lying on the ground. We still have 11, but it just makes no sense.

Depending on the pH level of the water (along with the other parameters), I don't know if it will be able to afford the ADA stuff. If it's as low as we are expecting, that is. There are two water softeners before the water comes out of the tap, and I know there are chlorine filters and all. For the 40L, we just dump everything straight into the tank, no additives, have for years. How low will the ADA push down the pH levels in the water? Or will it just hold it where it is when initially put into the tank?
