Because of the huge adult size of the Silver Arowana, and it being an aggressive predator, there are very few common aquarium species that can be kept with this fish. Tankmates have to be large and robust. In the wild, this fish survives by jumping for its food which includes insects and small birds as a result of this, the tank must be kept covered at all times and even weighted down as the fish grows.

What are the exact measurments (length, width and height) of your tank :) ?

Royal plecos are very territorial towards each other and often towards other large plecos too, they also don't grow as large as commons.

The commons may become a little territorial towards each other, but this shouldn't be a problem in a 518gallon tank with a good decor arrangement.

your wrong about they dont grow as long as commons, I had a 18" royal that was a good 8" + tall when laying down. He was like a pupy. I also kept my silver arowana ( 24 " 2 of them ). With smaller fish, example, sunfish, Pbass, Datnoids. And they never messed with them.

yeah he has some smaller fish in the tank and they do fine (as long as they don't fit in it's mouth)

I'd feel a bit iffy about adding clown loaches in when under 5". If you were to put them in, have a minimum of 5. The more the better (of course within reasonable numbers) will give you better activity.

I can think of a heap of fish that will go great in there. Of course not ALL these fish can go in together.
Jaguar
Texas
Oscars
Vieja Synspilium-Argentea
Red Devil/Midas
Flowerhorn
Festae
Trimac (Maybe)
Dovii (Maybe)
Channel cat
Clarias
Clown Knife
Datnoid.

yeah i am gunna get a couple more clown loaches and let them grow out in my 55 till they hit 5 or 6 inches at least maybe a bit bigger as the fish in the big tank will have grown by then
