Added Terra Cotta Tile - what do you think?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I really like the tile! Awesome job. I'm going to probably go this route in my 180 as soon as I figure out a way to remove 150 lbs of Black Diamond sand without tearing the whole tank down, or getting bit by pissed off Oscars and Pbass!
The easiest way is to siphon sand out of your tank. Make sure you give your tile a really good scrub. Avoid using tile from China if possible. There is speculation that tiles made in China may contain a small amount of lead.

LOL, looks like your fish are swimming across the kitchen floor. :)
i think it looks kind of cool. It's like watching them swim in a tiled pond. Bichirs need this color to bring out their best colors.

I was thinking of attaching a drain hose to my shopvac, running that outside...and hoping I can vac the sand faster than it drains the tank! My arm getting attacked is another story.

feed your fish first before you do tank maintenance. Once they have a full belly they wont care about your hand. I don't think a shop vac is necessary. Just siphon it out into a bucket.

Thanks guys. Here is my 1 week update pic

Where did you pick the tile up from I been looking for it for a long while and I can't find sand either I love the tile idea . Your tank look amazing .
you will not find it at Home Depot or lowes. They are made in Spain and been discontinued. The brand is Diago and color is terra cotta porcelain tiles.
