Yeah, I suppose you're right.

It's just a stupid fish, right? :headshake

no its a good fish but yeah its an Xingu 1 and they will lose those bright reds and oranges

That's what sucks about living in Iowa. The only way I'm gonna get something cool like a Tapajos Red, is to pay through the nose to have it shipped here.

Sometimes you need to count your blessings!!! It all depends on how you look at it. Don't have such a pessimistic view on life, seriously. LoL

Crenicichla johanna, Crenicichla sp. 'xingu I', Crenicichla sp. 'bellycrawler', and Crenicichla sveni are some of the more attractive pikes. Females of ALL three species are drop dead gorgeous, and anyone that owns them is more than proud to show them off!!!

The males of all these species are just as attractive! They have an aura about them that makes you have respect for them. Its just unexplainable.

Having a PAIR of these three species is definately something that will easily grace any aquarium. Nothing is more attractive than a pair of pikes cruising the tank together. Its just so graceful, just so natural. They compliment each other so superbly its mind boggling.

All of these species that I have mentioned should be fairly easily attainable in Iowa, aren't expensive, and are awesome. Be thankful you are able to go to a LFS and even FIND pikes. There are quite a few of us here that aren't even able to do that.

Thanks Peanut. It's just that pikes are kinda like crack... You get one or two, and you always want more, and better. :D

Not that I have any personal experience with crack, but I've seen a crackhead or two.

Of course!

Just stash pocket change everyday or put 25 bucks a week away to biuld a
little stash. Then when you have enough then start looking until you find something you want. Patience, Patience, PATIENCE.
I looked for around 4-5 months before I got my trio of Tapajos Marms.
I live around St. Louis and pike selection is not great here either. XI, Johanna, Belly crawlers or a few Saxes is about it. That is why I by online.
With that said, it is like Jer said a compatible pair of XIs can dress up any tank.
