So I had a crazy idea and I wanted to ask before I even thought it was a good idea. I want to get a 4-5 inch GT to put in with my three Os. But I only want to add one of them. If I drained the tank to 50% and re arranged it would that help keep the aggression down by the other fish?

Aggression depends on a lot of factors. Generally the cichlids in the tank will have already decided that it is "their" tank, and newcomers will be chased out. Only in an aquarium, there is nowhere to go, so they end up getting harassed. Oscars are not super high on the aggression scale normally, so you will probably not have as hard of a time as someone who had say, red devils.
The best thing to do is probably to do a water change before you add the fish, and comepletely change the décor around. Hopefully this will trick your fish into thinking it is no longer all their territory. Also keep the lights off for the first day so the new guy can hide. Adding one cichlid at a time can be tricky, but GT's are usually a little meaner than Oscars, so you should be alright.

Haha awsesome I thought it was a little crazy

lol 55 with 3 o's. that's insane, please don't add more fish to this setup. I would focus on getting a large tank reasonable for 3 o's and even still leave the gt out of the equation. I don't you will have success adding one.

Isn't there 5 black belts in this tank too? As well as a 2 inch oscar that you are about to add according to ure post in the cichlid section?

55 gal i would look to remove some fish not add more. Even if aggression isnt an issue maintenance will be a nightmare.

Hey I didn't know where to ask this so please just try answering here itself,
I had a tank with an Oscar and a knife, Oscar kept bullying knifi so I sold him. Then I got a really good deal on a high back gold so I went for it. But the aro's confidence is really low. In his previous owner's tank, he was bullied by 5 other aros as he was smallest. Now my knifi now and then chases the aro and nips at his tail and aro gets freaked out when knifi comes close. Is it something to be worried about and if yes, what can I do to reduce aggression?
