Adding a red devil?

Absolutely. You can do 2 F or even 3 or 4 if u got space, and you can also do a Male w/ several females, but that ends if they pair up and the tank is too small.

However, you can almost NEVER do 2 Male Jaguars, and I would vote nor of any Parachromis.

What would you say the chances of the jaguar working with mine if both of them are females.

My philosophy is try it and find out LOL! You got the tank space to at least give it a chance, just do lots of caves and hide-spaces with plenty of cover and vision barriers so they can get/keep out of each others' sight.....or site ;) I'm a little different from a lot of traditional and orthodoxed keepers, so that's just me, but it's ultimately up to the owner how they want to do things. My daringness and lunacy is usually rewarded w/ people saying "How did you get all those fish to get along like that???!!"

I hear you :)
I'm kinda thinking it would be a better option to try the female jaguar over the male red terror, even though the jaguar is the boss of its current tank. I have heard a lot more horror stores that involve red terrors then Jaguars

In some cases it depends on the individual and in many species it depends mostly on the species, but still it depends on the individual so even in the nastier fish you may have more docile specimens regardless. Everyone here is scared of Jaguars seemingly, but both my pairs never killed anything that I can remember. I had JDs kills rival males though, even w/ 3 females for each.....but I've also seen 2 Male GTs living side-by-side at 10" and 12" perfectly cool with each other....

but I also had a male Citrinellus beat the hell out of a 2 foot, 3lb Channel Catfish until I had to remove it and a female Labiatus harass another Channel Cat and a HUGE African Clawed Frog until they jumped out of the tank (in my early days before I decided fish and amphibians/reptiles should be kept separately)
EDITED - I did it again stiker stiker refresh

I totally agree everything is dependant on the individual fish. My jaguar is one of the most peaceful. Sure she (I believe it is a female jaguar) will chase the female synspilum or the carpintis every now and then but never fights with any other fish

Yea, mainly with any Cichlid, it's either the male or a breeding pair you really gotta worry about....females are easier to neutralize w/ other hard-hitters to balance it. Males kill each other sometimes
