First off, Happy new year everyone! Anyways, I am going to be adding a second fx5 to my 150g. My question is, what would be the best placement of the hoses? I mean do I put both intakes on one side of the tank and the returns on the other side? Or intake and return on each side? Intakes in the middle? Does this make sense? haha!

Good question!

I never thought it made a difference, but maybe it does, my two canister hoses are side by side.

Thanks guys!

I have two FX5's on my 220. All the hoses are pretty much split up evenly across the 6' foot print.

I think I'll try it this way. Nice tank by the way! Maybe I'll throw a sponge filter in there for good measure too. I'm going to be saving up for something around a 300g, so I figured I would get all of the equipment first. My fish are growing so fast and damn they're messy eaters!

If you are looking for even flow, this might suit you. Intakes on the extreme left and right side of the tank. Both FX5 output nozzle placed side by side in the middle. Hence 1 output to the left, 1 output to the right and 2 output to the front.

Or you could always put the 2 output at each end. Merge the 2 intakes using a T-joint into a single strainer in the middle for supreme sucking of debris <-- Try at your own risk. Im no expert at pressure related stuff so don't blame me if your FX5 explodes :)
