So I decided to use my money I won at poker last night to buy myself another bichir (it's great showing up at a poker game with ZERO money, having a trusting friend let you borrow a couple bucks, and leaving with enough to buy myself some goodies :D).

I hung up with the pet store I've been getting my bichirs from. They listed off what they could get me which were as follows:

Senegalus

Polypterus palma (sic)

and Albino Senegalus

Seeing that I already have three Sens, and don't find the albinos particularly interesting, I opted for the "palma." I asked if it was palmas polli, palmas palmas, or palmas buettikoferi, and was told the list said "polypterus palma."

So being curious (last time my "Delhezi" turned out to be a Lapradei), I told him to order it for me. Apparently it's 6-8" long, which is great because that's basically what my Sens are up to now (6-7"). It will be in next Wed-Thurs.

Anyone want to take a guess as to what it will be? :D

Winner gets... bragging rights? :screwy:

From what I have seen Palmas polli's tend to be the most common so that would be my guess. However since your delhezi turned out being a lap it could end up being a congicus.

Another Lap would be SICK.

For two reasons:

1. It's a Lap

2. I'd REALLY have to look into getting a bigger tank... lol

I'm not really "great" at IDing any of the palmas complex, so either way, I'll have to post a pic up and ask when I get it. lol

Those are the only ones I have trouble with now.

Haha I hope you get something ridiculous!!! :D

Either polli or lapradei, but probably lapradei lol

most palmas at my LFS are pollis not palmas palmas or buetti

Just don't be surprised if you end up with a large Sen..... One of the larger wholesaler has them listed as Palmas but in fact they are Sens...

agreed. When I was working at the LFS Segrest Farms always listed their senegals as polypterus palmas.

Hope you get another Lap man :headbang2
