adding another gar?

Okay - now it looks like I will pick up another gar also. So the stock for the 120g will be 3 alligator gars (12", 12", 14") and a 6" bichir.

Like Sol said, I think you mean 3 Florida Gars.
3 Alligator Gars in a 120 would be a recipe for pain.


Also, does anyone know which is the correct form for multiple Garfish?
Would you say
"I have 3 gars at home" or "I have 3 gar at home" ?

i tend to use them interchangeably as sometimes "gar" seems better for the plural, and other times "gars" does. however, the AFS (American Fisheries Society) put out a table of fish names/terminology several years back and it was deemed that "gars" is the accepted correct term for multiple lepisosteids. therefore in forums and informal discussion i use both terms, but in print for an article/publication i would use "gars".

Yes - 3 Florida Gars. I agree that 3 Alligator Gars is an obvious no. Sounds like 3 Floridas will work though. Great!
