I have an old perfecto tank that was built from manufacturer with out brace the tank has to be 20+ years old and holding strong. I was thinking of ordering new trim with center braces for a 90 gallon and putting them on the 75. Will this give the extra strength needed to keep the tank running for another 20+ years?

has it been resealed?

I am not sure how a 90g kit going to work on a 75g, if worried can always run a center pane of glass on the top to counter bowing.

The tank being as old as it is doesn't bow period and the 90 I have now is the same glass thickness and specs as the 75 so it will fit depending what brand trim I get

then being as you have posted. see no reason why it would not last or need more bracing than it has always had. glass does have viscosity. (meaning it flows) but 20 years is not enough to compromise its integrity. tempered or crystal glass does not.

Ok so even without the extra braces it will hold stong? The thing that got me in question is the trim I'm guessing due to the age it has become weaker then it should be.

if you don't mind the look, a big wood clamp placed on the center top of the tank will hold it fine ,,,and no messing with redoing the top trim... I have a 45 long that has a broken brace , I put a big wood clamp across the center/top ... no more bowing ,, and it only cost about $10 at home depot

I was thinking of that too lee but the thing is the way it's was manufactured the 4 side panels aren't sitting on the bottom panel. The bottom is a little smaller then the actual trim and is sealed in place.

I CAN'T picture that as it relates to shoring up the top .. I THINK that"s where the broken support is?
