Adding new fish

re-arrange everything, break all territories; when i haven't done this in the past, its often resulted in excessive bullying and sometimes resultant disease

This has never ever worked for me. Fish aren't that stupid. They seem to claim a portion of a tank, not what's in that portion.
I even did an experiment w/ this in my 150g tank. Even took out all hiding spots w/ a bare tank, and the cichlids all stayed in their territories regardless for weeks no change. Put everything back in and no change. Moved things around, no change. They all had their spots and would chase any others that would venture into their area.

I didn't say they were stupid, but its an interesting experience. Perhaps other members will add their input

wouldn't do an Oscar with those species. They're idiots and open-water fish - they won't use caves to hide even on the brink of death.

Darn really want an Oscar. Maybe a GT would be better. Slightly smaller, more aggressive, and slower grower

I had a big TO as a kid, only reason he got big was cuz it was just him, pleco and a catfish. GT much better choice, or other aggressive......Jag, RTM, Texas, convicts, jewels, RD, Pike, Severum, Synspilum,....something more hardy

I would love a jag without a doubt. But are they too aggressive for my stock and GTs?

mine aren't....2 times I've done this mix similar....just make sure they are smallest fish in tank

I've read a lot of nice things about them. I'd like a female for size and aggression reasons, are they hard to sex? And what's their growth rate like? I adore Festae but I don't think that'll happen lol. Thanks for all the help btw
