adding pbass to my rbp tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if u keep ur ps well fed then i personally believe you will have no problems. its when they get real hungry and u havent fed them u will have problems. that is opinion with red bellys anyways.. good luck

that is exactly what i had going through my mind when i bought them. they eat tankmates when there hungry or go a long period without eating. i feed my p's freakin all day long. im talkin like every hour i throw in pellets. every other hour i throw in krill. every other day i throw in guppies, every morning i throw in bloodworms. there growing so fast its amazing. only problem i am having so far, is gettin the pbass to eat somethign else other then guppies. its the only thing they show interest in n i dont wanna starve them at only 2 inches.

check myself? if i wanna put pbass in a pool of teeth, then i will. most baby pbass die anyway for more reasons then we can even explain. 5 out of 10 bass born dont even reach adult hood..

dude he meant thats not a good idea yet u seem to be determined to do it anyways . why ask if ure going to do it anyways???.the statistic sounds of wild p bass. i dont think ure tank full of exotic fish count in athat statistic. the guys are just trying to look out for the fish .

i kinda asked hoping to see if anyone else tried putting rbp's with pbass, if they had any luck, what they did to make it work or how long b4 the pbass were basically dead. all i was able to get was "not a good idea". im not "determined". i jus wanted to try it. putting any fish with another fish is always a gamble. gars with aro's, rtc with anything. i wanted to try rbp's n pbass. both agressive fish, both hunt eachother in the wild. we shall see what happens. i haven't noticed any agression at all towards the pbass. no chasing, no nothing. theres 6rbp's n only 2 bass. i figured if anything by now, they'd atleast all be chasing the bass around. they chase goldfish, a 10" algea eater. but dont even bother at all with the pbass.

haha, nice one. i've seen tankmates in the past. in person even. jackdempsy, oscars, pacu's. i guess its a trial n error kinda thing. im adding 4 peacock bass to the tank today. we'll see what happens. ill keep you guys updated.
why you ask some question here?

ethnics, where some fish might seem absolutely fine with P's, and the P's ignore the given tankmate, it's more of a sooner or later thing.

Even with regular feeding, just one of those P's might feel like tasting one of the pbass, just a test bite, in which case the other p's may follow suit, and bam, the pbass are goners.

When I was a kid I kept a small shoal of P's with a longnose gar. Everything was fine for a while, until one of the p's took a test bite from the gar, removing some scales, the gar swooped round and killed the p. Just grabbed and shook it around until it died.

The gar was a lot bigger so the gar won, but with similar sized fish, once the P'd take a test bite, the P's are gonna win.

I had Caribas with Pacus for years and they never did anything to the Pacus, I ended up taking out the Pacus because they would not let my Caribas eat. :naughty:
