Ok, I am sure I will be Stoned and beat to death from everyone :nutkick:.... but I went and got a Silver today. He is prolly bout 9" and my Jardini that I have had for a week is bout 6 1/2" Figured it all depends on the fish if he will accept the other or not. Silver is very good with the Jar but I think the Jar is Confused a lil. He does his whole "Im the Dominant fish Stance" and then sorta nips but really doesnt hurt the Silver..... then next thing I know they are so close to each other and swimmin with no probs. I am sure this is normal but I was curious to anyone who has a Jar with a Silver what things will help maybe get them to have ANY better chance of being partners in crime. Also who has the 2 together and whats normal agression between them. I tried the whole feeding b4 I added him but the Jar spit out the cricket when he saw the Silver :screwy: If I have to I would get rid of the silver and take him back.

I guess there is a very very slight chance that it might work, but my magic 8 ball says the jardini will endup beating the life out of it.

Yeah what rally said. Have a look at Steve's pinned topic about jardini tankmates/aggression on the top of this forum.

Essentially you'll be fooled into thinking the jardini is not that aggressive until it hits about 10/12 inches, then it'll turn into a killer and start destroying everything in your tank.

yap....wait till the jar grows up and the hormones starts flowing.... ;)

all said you'll never know if you don't try. sometimes it depends on their temprement.

I was in the same position as you are about 2 months ago. I wanted to try to add a silver (bigger than the jar) to my tank since everyone says you never know until you try. It worked out for a couple days, they seemed perfect. The jar would look a little confused too at times. Then one day I just came home to find the silver obliterated, scales everywhere... If you want to try it out then try it out, it's just most likely your tank will end up like mine.

My jar never showed any signs of aggression until the silver was killed. He was pretty aggressive after towards the other tankmates too...

i have a green and a black aro in the same tank for 2 mths...seem ok few drop scales thats all...nothin serious...black is bigger than the green....didnt have the guts to try with jardini thou...:WHOA:

Well thats why I asked for opinions... of course if he does start to beat the livin hell out of the silver then I will take him out... I wont let the Jar kill him. Plus it did not help to see a 14" Jardini in a Community Tank with a load of other fish at a LFS I go to alot. Just figured it would not hurt to try and if it did not work then I guess the Jar is a loner

Good luck with that, most of the deaths occurred overnight with my jardini. Everything will seem fine untill you turn the lights out. In the morning it will be all over. $0.02

I'm sure if the jar gets aggressive that you'll separate them. I'm just saying it's a huge risk. I wish you luck because I wish mine worked. I kept a close eye but I wasn't able to spend EVERY minute watching them of course. It only took a trip to the store for my jar to murder the silver. :irked:
