Adding Tats to an Armatus tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have 4 tats 10in w 2 armatus 6in, eating frozen, in a 265. had my tats first. If i had armatus first i would not have added tats. my armatus are way more teritorial . each takes a side of the tank and they rarely shaol w the tats. also have 5 red hook and 5 blk bars to keep them busy. they have been ok so far......good luck

i know of one or two people who grew tats and armatus together no problems.
i believe the tat was over a foot as were the armatus when i last heard of them.
i say,if you dont mind losing some spare change, try it.

People like Woodysun may have raised them together but long term the Tat always dies. If it hasn't yet, then they just haven't waited long enough... The Armatus simply get too big. Like you said similar sized may work but max sizes are just too extreme. 1.5 foot falls prey to a fish twice its size. Its sad to look at fish the same as ammunition which is exactly what you're talking about when you know one species of fish will eventially be killed off by another species.

max size,yes thats true.
but it takes a long time for armatus to reach over 3 feet,if ever,no matter how fast they grow.
im saying itll PROBABLY work, but of course armatus will get larger than tats.

Armatus should be capable of approaching 18 inches after the first year, definetly should easily be well over a foot at least. Tats even if bought at 10 inches are still gonna be less then a foot after that first year. Most are sold at 6-8 inches. If those are housed with a 6 inch Armatus its gonna be at or less then 6 months old. I haven't had mine 6 months and they're allready 8in and growth is accelerating. 6 months later the Armatus is 6 to 10 inches bigger then the Tat. My money says it won't last more then 6 months. Given the price of Tats and the fact they are really gonna need to be in a small shoal you're gonna be $150 in and have a gamble of trying to rehome them in 6 months. I'm all for it though... I wanna know who's right. ;)

:)

When the sh**t hits the fan send me the tats.

put some GATF with your armatus, i've heard they make very good tank mates

Yeah I was trying to get some GATF or VATF, but I missed out.

My friend is trying to unload his 14" black Arowana for cheap, but I'm scared the Aro is going eat my 6.5" Armatus.
