You should check out this thread: HERE

They are talking about GSP acclimation right here on MFK... so that will probably help you out a lot more...

Best of luck with your puffer....

Jess most fresh water bacteria won't serve in full salt. So the reason for changing from fresh to brackish to full salt over a few weeks is to grow different bacteria. ideally you want to increase the salinity a little each week.

X2, normally people only do a quick acclimation if the fish is obviously a s/w fish being kept in f/w

Otherwise, ideally, most will say its best to do it over a period of days / weeks rather than hours to make sure the fish acclimates properly...

^ Actually there are quite a few species that do...

just off the top of my head:

MBU / Fahaka / Congo / Abei / Cross River / Suvatti / Palembang / Dwarf / Hairy / Irrebesco (sp) and there are more too lazy to list...

Ohh i had a Spotted puffer before first fish that i bought and i combined it with my BGK and BGK was probably 3 times the size of the puffer but Puffer killed my BGK :( Spotted puffer likes to take small bites on other tank mates tail unless they are the same kind
