adonis pleco

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have 3 albino adonis in a 40G tall grow out tank. Got them at 1"+ and they are now about 2" TL after a month. At this size aggression is minimal. My 8" SL adonis pushes around everyone including a 8" SL L330. He started getting aggressive at about 6".

a inch a month sounds good,i have been feeding them algae wafers and sturgeon pellets , i heard their growth rate is slow , i never seen any reports of it been breed in captivity , is it possible?

by the way do they eat plants ?

Recently picked up a 8.5"+ albino adonis, my forum searches would suggest the albino varients are all captive bred and imported at 2-2.5"

Mine is very active, out and about all over, and not intimidated by the 10-11" royals it's housed with in a 175g.

I feed the tank hikari food sticks, cichlid gold, carnivove, hbh grazers
(waffers), zucchini, and sweet potatoe. It's only been two weeks and all I've noticed is the albino adonis rasping on wood and the glass.

wood is part of their diet ? how's the albino temperament ?

Imo they need wood to rasp on and as for temperment my guess is that the albino varient will have the same temperment as the black adonis, very territorial to the point of possibly being kept alone, with no other plecos.

I feed my adonis mainly spirolina (flakes, pellets, nuggets, and wafers (rotate 4 kinds), NLS (pellets and wafers), and vegetables as treats.

I was on planet catfish and it says these guys can grow over 2' in the wild so you'll need a bigger tank than a 60.

sure hope it grows bigger , currently its growth to only 2 inch
