For someone who does have a lake or pond or whatever it may be large enough to house one of these guys is the satisfaction just knowing it's living in there ? I'd imagine in a lake large enough for a 5 - 7 foot fish you wouldnt be able to see much of anything?

Someone in a trailer park nearby here released one into their pond. It was all over the news. Apparently its diet consisted of fish, ducks, dogs and cats. They said it was about 8 feet long and someone had to have caught it in the mississippi and released it into the pond (which would have been about a 5-10 minute drive), or my guess is someone kept one for a while and then released it into the pond and it survived.

But that doesn't really count as having one as a pet, although it is a private pond so technically it is everyone in the trailer park's pet.
