Ah i don't know ken thats murky water so you can't really see the faint 5 bars and how bright the green is your kidden right? Some of the ocells that ive seen on here i would take over alot of peoples kelberi!!
Yeah the water is quite murky. It almost looks as if the fish is in some type of tank.I've seen pictures of these fish where they are an intense yellow with white belly, those are the money shots to me.

beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder. Xingu's are not prettier than a nice colored monoculus, and rio negro orinocensis is not necessarily better than a Rio meta one.

What I want to point out is the these fish from Brokopondo is nothing like that from anywhere else. It looks nothing like the fish we call occelaris in the States, or even the guyana occelaris.

the markings and the coarse scale pattern, is very unique. To my knowledge, there are only 2 exporters in the US for this fish, Jeff and myself. This fish is not even available in Japan or Europe for that matter.

So true Wes! If paragraph one is based on your own taste, we might have the same taste in fish.

I see potential in these brokopondos but only time will tell.

lol @ not attractive.

wild ocellaris are some of the nicest looking pbass. ill tell you whats ugly (and what people go apeturds over): xingus and azuls. xingus, drab olive yellow color and azuls, the some color as a channel catfish with some blue on its fins

the most underrated species are the most beautiful in terms of color and pattern IMO: orinos, monoculus, and ocellaris. but peope like to feel exclusive with their "rare" fish. if monos were rare and hard to find in the hobby (like a fogo) you guys would be whistling a different tune ;)

I totally agree with Jose. I don't even like fogo's...the one rare fish I AM hot for are intermedia....

put that guy in a tank with clear water and the right lighting, and he'll look much better than my old florida ocell ;)
