Can you elaborate a bit?

More insectivorous? Smaller mouth? .. just curious..

thanks :D glad to see you on here often!!

sounds like mostly insect larvae if I remember correctly. They have small teeth- not big enough to break hard parts. Getulio has found lots of sand in their guts and theorized that it might help with digestion. So cool!!!

I think the same for retics.. they have very small mouths and not very strong jaws. They took to soft foods like Krill well, but won't eat harder foods like Silversides, and certainly not pellets. Sadly, my retics are about 6" and I have seen Motoros of much smaller size crunch up pellets, no problem.

Some retics however have this amazing ability to swallow things whole.. but Ive only observed this in a competitive environment (loaches, catfish, etc)..

The digestive theory is very interesting indeed.. kind of like birds and grit? I wouldn't be surprised if their digestion system could also extract good nutrients from the silt/sand and expel the large particles.

Hey there you are.. come visit more often :D I want to see pix of the retics!!

Still have that Orbignyi, too? How about some updates?

lol Thanks,
I still have them ATM. Though I did lose the oldest female a few months ago.
I'll try to snap some fresh pics tomorrow.
Still have the Orbignyi as well. Too bad you are on the other side of the country or I would hook you up.

I would think shipping a 15 inch disc ray would be impractical, but I could check with Pat, He might know.
