It seemed like the fishkeeping community is divided on this issue. Some hobbyists feed their fish with newborn frys; others grow their feeders out before introducing them.

Apperently, one argument for using newborn frys is that they are filled with growth horomones that can help the predators along. Others say it is impractical because you need a lot of newborns to feed a single fish, or it waste the fish energy more than it is worth.

Depends on how big your monsters are :)

My little (5") bichir at work ignored several guppy fry and platy fry... for a while anyway :)

Put some cover in your tank, toss in a bunch of fry. If they make it to cover, they can/will likely grow some before being eaten... all depeding on your monsters (size/quantity/attitude)

i grow out my convict babies for feeders for my dats, and whoever else will east them, AKA geophagus. they work great.
