so now the hard part. i need to fix this thing, and i got to looking at it. there is like some corrosion or something in the seam. i will get pix as soon as i can. but any way my prob would be will this effect the seal when i fix or is this normal? do i need to remove this stuff or what? and how do i do this if i do? i know its kind of hard to diagnose with no pix but bear with me.:shakehead

question? is weldon good after experation date if so how long? i can get a case for free but expired

It looks like when it was built, they didn't get the air bubbles out of the fluid. I seriously doubt if you'll be able to clean up the seam because that stuff is inside the acrylic now.

I would try tilting the tank towards that seam just a little bit, lay down a seam of weld-on #4, and clamp or apply weight to the top edge of the side to push it down onto the base.

Another thing I'd consider is getting a piece of acrylic cut, about 1/2 thick, and apply weld-on to the bottom and side and weld this piece into place completely covering this seam.

I'm not sure about weld-on having an expiration date. It IS relatively inexpensive to buy though.

what about buffing? are all buffing compounds safe for a tank?
