Just after some advice/criticism/opinions on this design. My plan was to have overflows on all 6 tanks, flowing from 1 to 1a, 2 to 2a and 3 to 3a. And from the 'a' tanks to the sump. My plan for the return is to have a big spray bar running up a T to the top tanks. Will this work? Thanks in advance! And I apologise for the dodgy drawings!

just to make things more exciting the drawing is upside down! Lol

Ive ran plenty of setups like this with no problems, imo the tanks might stay cleaner with 3 sumps but ur design sure saves electricity. Heres an example of one of mine. Sump is on the left.

Ive also had 3 stacked before all drilled that drained into one another freshwater but i ran h.o.b.'s on the lower tanks also...here is another drilled stacker system i made/sold to a customer. I enjoy gravity fed systems.

image.jpgThanks guys, I was also wondering if there was any need of having an overflow (see pic) on the 'a' tanks or can I simply stick a pipe at the desired water level connected to the top tanks drain pipe and use gravity from the top tanks to drain them.

Would be better if both levels emptied into the sump. Pictured setup is susceptible to a flood

How r these setups susseptible to a flood? Theyve been running for 3 years with no problems? The desired gph on each tank is exactly the same whether theres a pump on each tank or not.
