Advice on a Secondary Filter for 75 Gallon Tank

Hot magnum 250 doesnt fit a 75. the new hot magnum 350 will fit it thow.
 
Take a look at the Eheim line of filters.
 
I think I'll go with the sponge filter, especially if later on I want to add an additional marineland canister 530. I don't see using the Q-tank too often but definitely when I need it I want it to be simple and ready.
I also have a tetra whisper air pump 100 with two hose outlets, would this be ok to use for sponge filter ?
Is there a difference between the hydro sponge filter here http://www.fosterandsmithaquatics.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=22574 and this other one called Oxygen Plus Bio-Filter 9

The Oxygen Plus Bio-Filter looks more sexy than the Hydro sponge.

When breaking down the Q-tank, how to go about sterilizing the sponge filter and returning it to main tank ?
