Check out Bettaheads on Facebook; the president of the betta club breeds some pretty nice bettas, including coppers and golds.

I've bred mine a few times and the thing aside from patience is a quick net and having lots of live food ready for when the fry hatch out. Both parents will need some good relaxation time after spawning (and you remove the female stat) and taking care of the nest.

Where are you getting your female from?

I have tried breeding betas once but wasn’t successful. I didn’t let the male to watch the female for sometime but put them together. My friend tried as per what Mr fishy has mentioned now his bettas are at fingerlink stage.I have tried breeding betas once but wasn’t successful. I posted this in another MFK betta thread:

Live foods are not necessary to raise betta fry. You can feed newly hatched fry boiled egg yolk squeezed through a fine mesh (like a stocking).

Breeding bettas: Condition female until belly is nice and plump. Male should be in breeding tank. Water should be 6"-8" deep, 78 - 80 degrees. Tank should be covered to keep the air inside the tank warm. Breeding tank should contain plants or some floating styrofoam for male to build bubble nest. Put female in glass container and place in breeding tank. Once male has built bubble nest, release female. Fish should spawn within hours. After spawning remove female. Male will take care of eggs in nest. Reduce water level by a few inches to make his job easier (eggs fall to bottom and male puts them back in nest). Once fry hatch remove male. You can then begin to feed them egg yolk. Remember to keep the air above the water warm. Hope this helps.

To answer your questions...

What do u feed the babies? Baby brine shrimps or microworms...
how long does it take for them to hatch,..2-3 days depending how warm your water is
what to do.....?

Condition both male and female with frozen or live food for about a week process, some people say two, some say three... I say do what works for you.. I do one week..
Once you feel both are fat and healthy...flare them against each other until you see the male building a bubble nest and female with the verticle lines..
Once both party looks like theyre ready to breed, set up a nice 5 gallon tank to breed them with....I use water straight from my tanks... fill up the water to about 2 to three inches...throw in some live plants...duck weed is fine with some plastic plants for the female to hide in...let the male do his thang and build the nest....throw in the female in..and about two days or less you should see eggs..if not repeat the process... Im a lazy betta breeder, I take out both male and female cause I see no use of the male staying in...Once theyre both out...cover the top with some press and seal to keep the tank moist...in a few days the eggs should hatch...and because you were smart and used cycled water and live plants...your frys first food will be infursia and BBS....If you're lazy like me.. You would throw in a few rams snails to eat off any type of over feeding, or dying frys...and just kinda let them be for about a good two weeks...dont stop the feeding tho...but just dont bother them so much... and you should have a few hundred of them... Im in the proccess of breeding a nice pair of HMPK and could probably even post a video.... I started out the hobby with bettas...and bred thousands of them in mylife time..and still am breeding....
