Hello, I'm going to drill the back (not tempered) panel of my glass 75 gallon sump for a 1/2" bulkhead.

I've watched a couple videos and here's my plan. I am using a drill press and I have a diamond tipped hole saw. I plan on using plumbers puddy to make a pool around the area along with taping the front and back of the panel to help prevent chipping. Does anyone have any other advice? I'm also not sure what to set the speed on? Thanks!

Check the mfg. suggestion for the drill bit you bought.

We used a 1" bit at 990 RPM per the mfg. recommendation and it worked great with our drill press.

Just raise the bit up and down frequently to allow sufficient water to keep the bit cool and flush out the grindings. Add a towel to the inside of the tank to catch the glass in case the tape comes loose.

Glad to hear the drilling went well for you! The first time is always a bit stressful.

Glad to hear. Using a drill press is the way to go. I did 27 tanks in less that a days time.
