I am moving to a new house about 15 mins away. I have to move my 15 to 16 inch diablo red aro. Any tips out there from you experts? I was thinking of using some bag buddies to his tank before i try and catch him. I was thinking pillowcase or tupperware. Than move him in a 4 foot tupperware with some floating plants to keep him chill. it would have a airstone and I would move the aro to the new house first. Than i will move the 180? Like i stated earlier I would like some more tips from you guys out there.

Lower the water level to where the Aro can barely swim. Try to lead him into the pillow case with your hand or net.. close the pillow case after he's in and drop the entire pillow case into the container(filled with some water) you're transporting him in and slowly let him out. Black containers are best for reducing stress. You can add bag buddies, salt or blackwater extract, whatever you prefer. Put the lid on and move to your new house ASAP. Add a heater if you think moving the 180 will take a while.

Keep in mind that while you're doing this, the room should be dark as possible to reduce the stress. Good luck!

Thanks, I am very nervous about this move. I dont want him to freak out and hurt himself.

Also make sure you use some belts or bungee cords to secure the lid on the container. The rubbermaid tubs start to warp when you add water to them and the lid doesnt fit on as securely.

its asian so not likely to jump tho it might... id go with waters suggestion only, dont lower water level first, replace the pillow case for large koi bag and use a wire coat hanger or sturdy wire bent into a circle to hold the bag open... bag and transport a the aro in its tank water, keep it in the bag, double bagge to secure...

I've moved 50+ aro's of varying sp. and sizes by road over numerous miles at various times of year and never had a prob with asians and this methord...

HARD SIDES IN TRANSIT RISK DE IN ASIANS! silvers this is no issue its guna get DE anyway... :screwy:

plus yall find it hell of a lot easier getting aro into a clear bag over dark pillowcase... NETS ARE A NONO 100%...

where can i get large bags i wonder? Makes sense soft bag would be better if he did freak out.
