Advice on moving aro

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
that silvers a jumper anyway look at the drop scales down both sides even when vid starts, and how they both talk about it in the vid, thats not the first time its hit the floor im willing to bet... any koi shop should have massive bags in stock... thats where i get mine from... you can either use a a large net handle, strong wire or a modified coat hanger to hold the bag open and allow you to move it and coerce the fish in... basically take a large bag, drop it thru the circle of wire then roll the ends around the wire so its open like a net, you can use clips to secure it until the fish is inside! then i suggest with a aro of that size you will want to place the bag in another bag and then into a poly box with a lid on the darken it...

On a side note. How hard is it going to be to get a 6 foot 180 gallon down basement stairs. The tank will have to be upright on its end to make the corner. Can this be done? Its only a 180 so its not too heavy and i have suction cups

With you and some friends it shouldn't be an issue. Just make sure you have the space to get through BEFORE you start. :)

the very best of luck! hope for a smooth transition! if you can get some pics of the move!

I just drove 2 hours with 2x 20" green aros. all the advice above is spot on. I moved them in a dark black 30g tote, heavy slaterock on the lid. used a seeded sponge filter from my sump and battery operated airpump.

to catch them we drained the tank halfway and coaxed them into a large bag one at a time. they spent about 3 hours total in the tote and were fine.

thanks thats re assuring. i was thinking about 60 to 90 mins tote time. haha dreamt abou the move last night, couldnt sleep

it will be fine, asians travel well! ive had one bagged 11hours with no problems...

Hahaha so that was a long afternoon slash evening. Drained my tank to halfway. Put bag in water and aro actually swam right into it instantly. Used bag to move him to tupperware of water. It had a heater a airstone and a spongefilter in it. Held 30 gallons of water. He ended up spending 4 HOURS in the rubbermaid before i felt his tank was ready. I left him at the new house after watching him for a few hours. He was doing a lil fast breathing in the tank. I dosed heavily with prime. I figured since my fx5s were off for 3 hours that most of the bb is dead. I used stability and now i cannot find where i packed my water tests. I hop ehe is okay. I will be there first thing in the morning before work to check on him. His tankmate a NTT dat is looking fine. First night away from my aro in quite a while. Im not sure that i will sleep well.....And now for the epic fail that was moving the tank downstairs. As soon as my muscle picked up the tank they thought it was too heavy. 3 ppl was too akward. Me and my buddy were the only ones holding the tank. The stairs scared the boys so i left the tank upstairs. I will hire a local aquarium company to move it to basement for me. Im done moving tanks........ Oh wait my 110 p bass clown loach grow out tank still has to move...... That one is going downstairs hahah
