Hehe, I hope by zebra shark you don't mean the 10 foot long Stegostoma fasciatum :D

Epp or Arabian bamboo might be best suited for this kind of set up. I suggested coral cats because they tend to navigate rock work better while swimming. Most bamboos are crawlers, and will land on rock/coral and knock it around.

A small guitarfish would be a cool and unique addition.

Alright it seems like i do have a very small range. Maybe i could work with those guitarfish.

Yeah... think a tank 150X larger for an adult zebra shark.

What happened to your moray?
I am selling the moray. He use to not eat fish and be really calm. Now he goes for my fingers and eats every fish i try to add. If he cant swallow it, he rips it apart until he can stuff the pieces in his mouth

[how successful have you guys been with sharks and a community reef? I want clowns damsels etc the whole works on small schooling fish with sharks going in and out.

:D

I had a reef with my nurse. She killed everything. Almost 600.00 worth of fish in 2 weeks. Have you thought about the amount of waste that the 3 sharks can create with feeding, your going to have to double your filtration. You are also losing medication with cooper it can kill some sharks, an your corals too. Have you thought about doing a bamboo egg?[/QUOTE]

Yea i don't think i would trust a nurse with a reef tank. My 40lb 5ft moray produces more waste than any amount of sharks that could be stuffed into to my tank. my current filtration with calculated surface area could hold enough bio to run a 15,000 gallon tank. Thanks not including live rock etc, thats just whats under the tank.

That said, if you wanted to let me adopt the zebra when it got too big.... I'd be happy to put it in the BIG tank in a few years...

Well this would be an idea. There is a white tip reef shark that is being pushed my way from one of my friends. This was just suggested today and i don't know how certain this is. Though if you where interested in taking some sharks off my hands if i just grew them up, i would be interested.

BTW my green moray is for sale, for anyone that would like him. He will eat your 24inch sharks though, i suggest a tank for just him. He is an amazing animal. He use to be really good with fish, but he hates other fish now, well he just eats them. He is still good with people though, and will come up to you and wait for you to pet him. He nudges against your hand like a cat lol.

My vision of my dream tank can't hold him though..

MY PLANS: I plan on having a group of rocks on the left side and right side. I will have a reef with inverts and clown fish with anenomies. Then i will have tiny gobies and dartfish. Then my larger tangs and rabbit fish. Then the 7-8ft of open water .... "the open water of the ocean" part of the tank. I plan on this area to be where the sharks swim and plan with the rays if i get any. Then across the open water will be another group of rocks harvesting another small little reef ecosystem. I really want to recreate an ocean with two reefs separated by "open water". sorry if this doesn't make sense but i find it an amazing concept because i have 12ft to work with

I would take some larger sharks off your hands. I don't want to he a party pooper but I don't think your tanks size is quite big enough for a white tip reef. They are quite active even though they lay in the bottom for long periods of time. They are one one of my favorite sharks and I am thinking about getting another one. In my opinion they are way cooler than a black tip.

Avoid the white tip. And for 15,000 gallons you'll be needing a sand filter for mechanical filtration - but it will act as bio for you. That size is a bit out of the league using scrubbies etc...

That was taken out of context :grinno: only thing i meant by filtration is that i can easily feed up to 2lbs a day of food for fish. Idk how much food a 12inch bamboo shark eats but i am sure its no where near that, or 3 of them for that matter.

any other tips zoo diver? i plan on jumping in pretty soon.

I have carribea sea sand...

A lot of powerheads, do they like crazy flow?

temp? mine is at 78 - 80 warmer during the day because i leave the lights on for 6 hours.

hm am i missing anything? I just want everything to be perfect when i drop them in.

And of course water is perfect :D

right now iam running...

xp4 all cerimcs
fx5 all cermics
2400gph sump
fx5 this one is only temp though..
3,540GPH wave maker powerhead
900gph power heads x2

is that to much flow for the shark?

Should be good depending on what sharks you have.

alright after talking to my lfs they said i will run into some problems.. I want dartfish clown fish green chromis tangs and some wrasses. Maybe some schooling carnials etc. He said that they will probably get picked off. Anyone have bamboos with smaller fish and notice any missing? I know its very possible but i want to play by the % here.

another example of my tank. This one is kinda ugly but the concept

What i see in the video is a bunch of fish that are bigger then the mouth of the bamboo. If you get fish that are big in size you should be fine.
y baby bamboo and my 12inch. Grey bamboo dont really don't mess with any of my other fish. However when both of them get bigger i may have the problem.
