Advice on South American Species

How would you compare their nature to that of an oscar?

Sorry if I'm asking too many questions, but I can't find nearly enough accurate information about these species and I think asking people with experience is going to be the best way to learn about them.

Beautiful fish!

I love the shape of the fish; very sleek and angular. Makes them look like they mean business.

How big are they in these photos?

they were about 6-7 inches in the photo,they are around 9 inches now.
