Advice on stocking a 90 gallon

i find jack dempseys do much better in a tank with few competitors and plenty of dithers. i would leave the severum out of the mix too. the jd, firemouth, pair of CL and school of 5-7 glossolepis sounds right to me. that would make for a full 90g by the time the jd is full grown. those rainbows get pretty good size mind you.

No more than a pair of CF? I thought they liked groups of three or more? I can't give up my severum - I love her! I'm rethinking my tank size based on everyone's feedback... :) (a 90 seemed so huge to me... lol!)

whether 2 or 3 clown loaches won't make a difference tbh. The clowns, by the way, eventually get huge. Key word is eventually, it'll take years. And if you do grow them out huge, they sell for big $$.
 
I'd skip the clown loaches in a tank this size....People get attached to clown loaches and when they grow, they don't let them go and they end up living in small tanks for years...I raised mine in a 100G but they were the only "big" fish in their....and it always felt too small for them...

Well, I'm already shopping around for a bigger tank... lol! I believe that - CLs are so darn cute! :) Do you know where to go to find a stand and hood like this? (Maybe not quite 500 gallon - yikes)

Ok, so let's just say I went a little overboard and now I'm definitely going to need a bigger tank in a couple years. (When I took the fin- nipping jewel back they had such great options for replacements i couldn't help myself :/ ) What size tank will I need for:
JD
2 severums (1 gold 1 notatus)
Uaru
Nic. Cichlid
Firemouth
3 cl
Vampire pleco
4 d. barbs and 4 m. Rainbows

Youre not in terrible shape. You have a couple of options.

Find a cheap 75 gallon tank and move the jd, nic, firemouth, and denisons to it. The rest can stay in the 90, although you are heavily stocked.

But if you really want to keep them all together, i think a 120-150 gallon would suffice. A 180 would be ideal. Worth mentioning that the central american cichlids you have prefer different water conditions than the south american species, which is why i suggested separate tanks.
