I have 4 Endlicheri of different sizes, numbers 1 & 2 are 6-7 inch and 3 & 4 are 4.5-5 inches. I obtained number 1 first and then added 2, 3 & 4 two weeks later.
Number 1 has become quite aggressive and has been biting at the others resulting in raggedy tails. I removed Number 1 to solitary confinement but now Number 2 seems to be getting lairy.

So, my question is, should I be overly worried about the fighting - will it settle down in time? Or should I keep them seperately? Would adding a few pipes to the tank offer some more territories/hiding places and stop Number 1's bellicose behaviour seriously damaging Numbers 3 & 4?

Thanks in advance

Well i have a 8 inch with two 5 inches and they seem to be ok. I think yours are establishing teritory and dominace, and hiding space will prob help alot. Mine did the same think for a little while.

How big is the tank?
How long were they all together?

Tank is 5x2x2. They were all together for a week max as I didn't want deaths until I had found out more here.

The tank sounds big enough for now.Fin nipping is fairly common as territories are established and pecking orders put into place. My best recomendation is rearrange the tank some and put satan baack in,and keep an eye on them.
Real fighting the fish usually position themselves head to tail head to tail and posture then start slapping eachother with their tails then all hell breaks lose-Anne

Ok, Number 1 has come home here's some pics of the guys.

Lets see how they get on!

nice endis and nice clown. but what are those things on your gravel? i would take them out as the bichirs as well as the clown could get hurt on those.

You are right - it's looking a bit messy in there. The things on the gravel are pieces of shell which are sooooo difficult to remove. I will try to get them out. I need some kind of mini rake or seive to remove them - it's a work in progress! So far, Number1 is behaving.
