Advice please

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
depends how big bichirs u want, senegal bichirs are friendly and active and get to about 12" and could live in your tank. but if your upgrading to a pond u could use some bigger species.
delzhezi and ornates are also readily available nice species google them abit.
as Dzb mentioned if you do just want to keep the tank without making a pond or larger enclosure the knives will have to be rehomed

thats very responsible of you! if only more fishkeepers thought this way
i forgot to mention, the delhezi and ornate bichirs get alot bigger then senegal.
i have a 8" senegal and hes so friendly so they always make a nice addition providing u dont keep guppys and coreys that they will hunt

so what kind of cichlids were you thinking that could work with them?

with bichirs? i have kept mine with both central american and african
he bichirs tend to mind their own buisness. with the africans i had an ornate who just cruised around and explored the rockwork.
if you go to www.cichlid-forum.com then profiles, theres a huge list of cichlid species with pictures and info =)

ok thank you
so they would be ok with all the fish in the tank too?

did u not read my post?
ya but i think those may be way too aggressive for the fish already in the tank. I don't want any dead fish or missing fins/eyeballs.

So :chillpill:

even if u plan 2 upgrade dont add any more.................... til u have even as juvis u could just end up with a war in a tank that small also ck cant stand up 2 big cichlids they r pretty weak against other fish if they cant fit them in there mouths my 3ft ck got beat crap out of by a 8 inch jd so have 2 remove dempsey

if u refering 2 africans as in rift valley cichlids you shouldnt keep a birchir with them .... they have different water needs i suggest you re search fish compatability and their water needs.
