We recently purchased two beautiful Red Headded Severums and about a few weeks later found them guarding a good pack of wigglers.

I have heard it is Very Hard to find a mated pair of severums beaucse the seem to be pickey, and i would hate to screw up thier first pack of lil wigglies.

Anyone have any advice to what we should do, feed or take care of these little guys.

THe other fish we have in the tank is a small red tipped Pleco (L025) and a few very peacful Geophagus (100 gallon tank).

Should we put the wigglers in another tank if they SEEM ok now... and what in the world do we feed them.

HELP  i dont want the poor lil guys to die.

i dont know a whole lot about severums but i wouldnt try to separate the fry from the parents for at least a couple weeks, if you do the pair may fight

hikari first bites works well with most fry

I've never had an issue with severums being hard to get to spawn. As far as wiggler food, all I do is crush up a good quality flake food untill its in powder form. Then as you put it into the tank, rub it between your fingers. Its never failed for me. Good luck!!

thanks for the help. they are eating the flakes well, and i dropped an alge tab in there that they seem to like . The parents are doing a great job keeping everyone away from them and all the wiggles are free swimming as of today, :).

Wife and i are going to get a nursery tank today to ensure that they have the best chance.

removing the wigglers can be tricky when they are small. and siphoning small ones can be deadly to them best bst is to use a divider and leave babies with parents until they are big enough to remove safetly
