hello fellow mfk'ers, i was @ lowes today, and saw play sand for super cheap, by Quikrete, (3 bucks for a 50 pound bag) but wasn't too sure if it was ok for an aquarium, is there anyone out there who has done this with play sand (of the same brand)and not pool filter sand and it worked? i read the MSDS and found it also has some lime stone in it, but i may have read it wrong, i dunno, advice?
(btw i have been looking my *** off for pool filter sand but EVERYONE is out of just silica, they only have brands with additives in it)

play sand causes cloudy water. I would stay away from that stuff.

pool filter sand is a better choice only about 10 dollars for a 50lb bag. but its worth it.

i use that same play sand with no problems. of course i spend at least 2 hours cleaning it before i put it in the tank. my water is crystal.
