Advice to get my arowana on food sticks

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Start feeding crickets for a week or so. Then start throwing a couple floating pellets in the tank. The aro will eventually take them. Then stop putting crickets.

Good for you. My experience was totally different. Like I said, I suppose it could happen, but I'm not buying it. Show me a video of it happening, & I'll give you your props. Until then, it's a "load old tosh", whatever the heck that is!!

I don't understand what's so hard to believe about Aros eating pellets?

Here is a pic of my silver as a juvi enjoying pellets:

That enough for you?
I can take a video if you really need it LOL!

I honestly have never had any problems getting Arowana on to pellets.
In fact all my fish are on pellets as a main (along with fish cuts) and it was easy to get them all trained, except for my new P.Bass. Having a bit of trouble with that one, but I will get there.

RTG is just much more difficult to be trainned to eat pellets (but market shrimp and meat is very easy to train them though). The real problem is even if it eat pellets I'm betting 70% of the asian arowanas out there just chew the pellets in their mouths and spit out about half of the food through their gills.

Definitely not. Every single asian aro I've had in the past have been on whatever I wanted it to be on including shrimp and pellets. Majority of other members also have similar experiences.

I never have any problem with aro eating pettet, because I ..............................................................never have an aro! lol, jk!
but I think aro eat alot, so just stop feeding them, when they hungry, they will eat anything! pump the tamperature up to 85-90F, they eat more in that temperature! your aro is just 6 inches so this could be pretty easy. good luck!

Maybe just spend a little time veiwing/researching, instead of advising on something you seem to have very little experience in.
