CAUP
(Cruel And Unusual Punishment)

To me keeping a cichlid (or any large fish) in too small a tank is CAUP, eating it is quick, humane, and not wasteful.
It also teaches the fish keeper, an important lesson about future impulse buys.
I do draw the line at eating puffers though, that's a bit ....

Not sure that having the fishkeeper eat the fish is the best lesson but I see your point.
