Sounds like you're on a sound career path. Take some classes in marine biology if you like, take it up as a hobby, but don't fool with it as a career unless you cannot possibly imagine doing anything else and are willing to make the necessary sacrifices to pursue it.

I'm in a field biology career (not marine, but close enough). It's like most jobs- weeks of drudgery for each day of fun stuff. You'll probably be happier with a forensics job that pays enough that you can afford to do just the fun part (going out and playing in the water) on your days off.
