I got 5 kelberis about 1 month ago. 1 died after a week and the other just about a week ago. The first one was too skinny and did not really got very far. The second one was actually one of the biggest in the group but suddenly got weak and was gasping a lot then started pooping white strings. The 3 left are with 3 Azul of the same size and 5 datnoids. The Azul and datnoids are not gasping for air but all 3 kelberis are just struggling and now having white string poop. They don't have sunken belly so they must be eating but the white poop and struggling for breath bothers me. . I don't see any aggression other than datnoids among themselves. I have air stone in the tank. Water change 20% every other day, 55 gal tank. Should I start medicating the kelberis? what's the recommended medicine? I noticed the gasping of all the kelberis about a few days before the last one died.

i suspect internal parasites. try metro if you can, in the food or water if they wont eat the food. also try prazi if metro doesnt work.

Thanks a lot for the advices. From what I have read so far, it is hard really for the inexperienced to tell what kind of parasite or worm is infecting the fish but white poop and gasping for air definitely shows some parasite. three different medication for 3 different internal parasites are available and there is no cure for all medication. theres the prazi, metro and lavi.... something. So I decided to shotgun medicate the tank. I'll start with the prazi since it is the less side effect and I found one in my LFS for $7 that will be good for 3 dosage if I lower the water volume.. Hopefully they get better if not I'll try the metro, it is a bit dangerous if you overdose this one, so hopefully I don't have to do this. I'll keep you updated.

I second the Epsom salt suggestion, especially if the fish is still eating. Soak their usual food in a 3% solution, which you can make by dissolving 3 grams into 100 mL water. (That is roughly 1/2 teaspoon to 2 ounces of water, in Imperial measure).
