well then its time to get a better antivirus.

Lol. There is no antivirus that protects against every virus, as new viruses are constantly being developed.

thats true. a good antivirus, not a free one, should be able to scan any of the files they wish to back up though.

thats why i suggested they use sandboxIE to browse the internet, because it will protect you 100%

I've installed NOD32 on several of my friends computers who can't seem to stop hitting the porns sites, and poker sites and just about any other questionable site they can seem to stumble across, and I've gotta say in the 20 years that I have been playing with and working on PC's, this has cut down on the "Mike I fu**ed up my computer again, can you help me?" calls significantly. It really seems to catch so much more than even some of the Enterprise builds of the big A/V players. I'll never use anything else.

Running a Hijackthis always helps, provided you have someone to look at it. But even then, you can't always tell everything....

That's what they do here.

www.techsupportforum.com

It's free. This is simply the best thing you can do. Well, this and similar sites. The Hijack this is just the beginning. You can't beat it. They will solve the problem and they do it for free.

:iagree:

There are computer forums with just as helpful and knowledgeable people as there are here on MFK, www.dslreports.com is another. Their security forum is one of the best around. You can also post your log there, you'll have an answer in minutes.

just do what I do.

Open up your computer case and pull out every item you can remove. Ram, graphics card, cpu. Toss it all in the garbage. Then take the case and put it in the dishwasher.

Be sure to run it on pots and pans settings. When it is done take it out and wipe it dry. Then lay it on its side and fill it mid way with kitty litter and hot dogs. Slide the side panel back in place and boot it up.

You will be set for many years of virus free PC operation. Good luck!

You guys must get into some nasty porn............

I suffered the same problem and probably from looking at too many education articles :)...If I were you [as long as you don't have anything too important saved that you can't put on another form of media] I would just reformat and start over. I did recently, I use Mozilla and they have a couple of nice applications such as "Adblock Plus" and "NoScript". Since I've installed these I've had no problems at all. And this is on a entry level dell desktop that I got back in 2002 with only SP1. Good luck.

CCleaner.com is great and free.....

avanquest FIX-IT utilites 8 professional, although not free (paid like 30 @ walmart) is realy good too for 1 click system cleaning / scanning / etc....
